Ro's Angel's Christmas Challenge is underway. We just completed Phase 1 of it and will begin Phase 2 on 12/1/08. Did I meet my goals? In my opinion, I did well. My goals were to:
1. Follow the rules of the Challenge.....I did most days.
2. Take my prescriptions as instructed...Yes but I did miss a few times.
3. Push Play for at least 20 minutes a day....I was doing great with this until I got sick.
4. Loose 5 pounds...this was the ones I didn't meet. I actually gained but lost inches.
For me, I am making long term changes. I want these changes to be with me forever because I want to be around for a long time. I won't lie and say that it didn't matter about not loosing the weight because I did want to. I do know it will come though. I just have to give all of this a chance to work.

The Three C's
The Three C's
By Debbie Siebers
When thinking about health and fitness, focus on the three Cs: centered, committed, and consistent.
1. You need to get CENTERED.
Gather yourself, your thoughts, and think about what you want out of life.
2. You have to make a true COMMITMENT.
You can accomplish anything that you set your mind to. Take a stand for yourself and commit to making those changes you want to see in yourself.
3. Understand it takes CONSISTENCY, and make it happen.
You'll hit bumps along the road. When this happens, get right back to it. Consistency doesn't mean perfection. It means staying true to the cause, and never giving up.

Serving Sizes
The holidays are quickly approaching and that can lead to weight gain if we are not careful. Keeping an eye on servings sizes along with regular exerice will help combat those unwanted pounds. Many of us will be tempted with tasty treats that only come at this time of year or have little control over the meals prepared when vising others. Here are some guidelines to aid you in this battle:
cereal (1 c.) = a baseball
salad dressing (2 Tbsp.) = a shot glass
nuts (1 oz.) = a cupped palm
cheese (1 oz.) = a ping-pong ball
hamburger (3 oz.) = a mayo jar lid
peanut butter (1 tsp.) = one die
beef (3 oz.) = a bar of soap
rice (1/2 c.) = an ice cream scoop
potato = a computer mouse
dinner roll = a yo-yo
butter (1 tsp.) = a Scrabble tile
fruit (1 c.) = a tennis ball
cooked pasta (1/2 c.) = a golf ball
fish (3 oz.) = a checkbook
poultry (3 oz.) = a deck of playing cards

Cheeseburger Soup
Now that the weather has changed, how about warming up to a nice bowl of Cheeseburger Soup? Here is a healthier version to one of my favorites!
Cheeseburger Soup
1/2 pound lean ground beef or venison
3/4 cup onion
3/4 cup shredded carrots
3/4 cup diced celery
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
3 cups fat free chicken broth
4 cups diced potatoes
1/4 cup flour
8 oz reduced fat or fat free American Cheese (I prefer light)
3 tablespoons light butter, divided
1-1/2 cups skim milk
1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 cup fat free sour cream
Brown meat with onions, carrots, celery and spices. Add broth and potatoes; bring to a boil. Reduce heat and cover; cook until potatoes are tender, about 10 minutes. Melt butter in skillet and add flour; cook and stir until bubbly. Add to soup and bring to a boil; cook for a few minutes. Reduce heat to low and add cheese, milk and pepper. Cook until cheese melts. Remove from heat and blend in sour cream. Makes 8 servings.

Did you get enough sleep last night?
If you aren't getting enough sleep, it can affect more than just your demeanor. Sleep deprivation can have an impact of your weight loss too. Most people need at least 7 or 8 hours of sleep each night. Our bodies tend to function best when we have regular sleep patterns. Set a regular time for bed and stick with it and try to get a good night's sleep. If you find that your workouts, practices, or competitions are not going that well, take a look at your sleep patterns and modify them if needed.

One of my favorite quotes....
I was sitting in my Doctor's office and was looking over some photos that were taken of him and of the ships that he had been stationed on (he was in the Navy at one point in his career) and found a quote which has stuck with me. I don't remember the name of the person that wrote it but will credit this to "anonymous." One of my favorite quotes is ...
"Feel pride in how far you've come and confidence in where you're going."
This quote reminds that even though my weight loss may not be as quick as I would have hoped, that it still something to be proud of and to keep going and working towards my goal. I know that I can achieve my goal and that by doing it the right way. With the proper diet and exercise, I will be able to maintain it for the long haul.

About Me
My Personal Bio: My name is Laura and I am 34. I work outside of the home full time, am married and have 2 girls who are teaching me everyday that exercise doesn’t have to feel like work. It can be fun too! I am looking for those individuals who want to live a healthy and fit life style. I enjoy helping people succeed. Won't you join me?
My Transformation Story: For years, I had been hoping that there was a "magic pill" or "magic bath" developed to help me loose weight. Little did I know that I had the magic inside of me. It just took a little longer for me to find it. Late spring 2008, a friend of mine had watched a TMT infomercial and raved about all of the before and after stories. I decided to go online and check it out. After reviewing the info on it and watching the infomercial myself, I purchased it. Once it came in, I used it for about 2 weeks and then went on vacation. Instead of me spending 10 minutes a day working out, I spent 10 hours loafing. This occurred all summer long. Eventually, I couldn't fit into my clothes anymore and I started to look pregnant. I decided it was time to pull out TMT again and give it a shot. That was the best thing that I could ever have done for myself!! In the first 30 days, I lost 7.5 total inches. What an amazing feeling it is knowing that I did it all entirely for me. Sure, everyone else benefited too. Why might you ask? I am a happy and healthier person; more capable of doing things for those that I care about. If you know my girls, ask them how life has changed since Beachbody became a part of our home. Life much easier when you feel good!:) Check out my Beachbody page here.

Beachbody has transformed my life!!
I am now living healthier thanks to Beachbody. For years, I have bought just about every product available for weight loss. I even had a prescription for weight loss pills. For me though, I wanted instant results. I didn't look at the whole picture. I felt that if I had exercised for the day, then I could eat or drink whatever I wanted. That isn't true. It's all about eating and drinking in moderation and finding the workouts to help you succeed. There has to be a balance there. For me, it was Beachbody and the folks that I met through their message boards that have helped me come this far. I owe a lot to them! I'll be talking about the Beachbody products on this site and show you that there are all sorts of fun ways to stay in shape. In the meantime, if you would like to learn more about Beachbody, please visit my website at www.beachbodycoach.com/lkp24
