It's been a couple of weeks since I did a weekly check in. Coming back from vacation, getting the girls ready for school, starting school and then a wedding put me a little behind on some of my blogging. Now that all of that is over, I can get back to my blogging schedule.
Last week I finished up Slim in 6. It was a challenge to get through the workouts because I was ready to move on to something else. A few weeks back, I ordered Body Gospel. It's a program that I've wanted to start since I attended the Beachbody Summit back in the spring. I was really moved by the stories that were presented to us. For me, I feel that I've been lacking something in my life and knew that I needed to put God back into it. This is a program that combines faith and fitness and what better way to combine two things that I need in my life.
Next, I need to make sure that I'm eating properly. It's so easy to get side tracked. Family, friends, events and all sorts of things can lead you in the wrong direction. It's easy to do! I've made wrong choices and unfortunately seen what can happen. So, I will continue to journal my food intake and watch my calories and try to eat clean whenever possible. I will remember that this is a life long commitment and not a quick fix. I need to be able to make this plan work for my lifestyle so that I will continue to stick with it.
So, that is my plan for this week. I'm happy with the results that I got from Slim in 6. It's a program that really does work!! What do you have planned for the week?
I'm back from vacation!! I'm not completely rejuvenated due to the cold/flu that I ended up getting while away but I still enjoyed my week off. It never fails, I take a week off and my body seems to want to shut down. My husband's comment of course was something to the tune of "What's going to happen to ya when you get old?" Good question!? I guess all I can say is that I'm trying to take care of my body now so that when I do get older, that I don't have as many complications as what could be. I try to eat right and exercise. Some days are better than others but I keep in mind that this is a lifelong journey and not a quick fix.
This week as well as the next couple of weeks will prove to be a challenge. Summer vacation ends for my girls and then school starts. A few weeks after that, my car pooling days begin. Swim team and dance appear to be the chosen activities. This week, I will be working on putting together some healthy and quick meal plans for during the week. I will also be halfway through my Slim in 6 Challenge. I missed a few days over the past weekend but that's okay. My body needed to rest. I'm not going to worry about it but keep moving forward.
Since I last weighed in, 2 weeks ago, I've gained a total of 5 pounds. I know what I did wrong and now it's time to fix it. While on vacation, I didn't stick to my schedule, didn't wear my BodyBugg and I didn't log my meals. Those are easy fixes and I need to get back on track. So, that will be my focus this week.
Question for all of you busy parents.....what are some easy, quick and healthy meal ideas that you can share with me? Would love your input.
If you saw my post from last week, you already know that I injured my back. I didn't realize that I had injured it as bad as I did but it put me out of commission for over a week. Today was the first day that I did any sort of exercise. I walked 1.5 miles today and I still have lower back pain. I had hoped to start the Slim in 6 challenge but can't. It's not that I don't want to but I need to wait until I'm 100% better. If I start this challenge, I run the risk of an even bigger injury.
I've learned over the last 9 months that setbacks happen. When they occur, it's all about how you deal with them. I know that physically I'm limited right now but that I need to continue to focus on my nutrition. In fact, I need to do a better job at it! Last week I didn't follow my meal plan at all and it shows. I decided to hop on the scale this week. It's been a few weeks since I did and I have a 4 pound gain. I'm not pleased about that one bit. That puts me at almost 20 pounds from goal. So, this week is all about recommitting to better nutrition and trying to get in some form of exercise each day. It might be a walk, yoga or gentle stretching. When I reach 100%, I'll start the Slim in 6 Challenge. I'll be hopefully no more than a week behind you all that are participating but I will get there!
Happy Tuesday friends! If you read my other blog, you know that I have been doing weekly checkins. Because it's been CRAZY this summer, I've decided to go back to just one blog. I admit I should have never created another blog but I thought I could manage two and I can't. So, you can read previous weeks there and starting today, you will be able to read what I'm doing here as well as continue to get the articles, info on Beachbody, recipes, etc. all in one place.
Here is a recap of last week:
Pros: Completed the 10 Day Walk at Home Challenge, wore my BodyBugg, worked out all 6/7 days days last week, walked with my family in a local 5k, and signed up for the 6 week Slim Down Challenge (see below for details) that starts August 1.
Cons: I ate horrible all week. I had no desire to cook with as hot as it was. And, to top it off, I ended up hurting my back over the weekend. I will be in rest mode until I can recover. I also need to do a better job of going to bed on time. Too many late night episodes of House and NCIS.
Goals for the Week: Follow my Beachbody Meal Plan. Everything is all laid out and it's easy to follow. I also need to rest and get better. Until I can workout again, I really need to make sure my nutrition is on track. If I can, I would like to take my measurements sometime this week. Since I've been staying off the scale, it's time.
Hope you have a GREAT week!
